About the Event
£100, max 6 people.
This is an on demand workshop.
Please register yout interest by clicking 'Book a place' and providing your email address. This will not reserve you a place but when I have sufficient numbers and have arranged a date you will receive an email notification, and booking will be possible.
This aim of this workshop is to create a completely new binding for an old book, using cloth, papers or buckram, using some skills learnt during the notebook making course in addition to new skills to be learnt throughout the day.
I will supply suitable books to rebind with a variety of titles, so that everyone has the opportunity to learn the same new processes, however if you have a book to repair please bring these in and if there is time we can start work on these too. I will also provide all other materials and equipment.
New skills will include learning how to round and back book blocks, how to create ½ bound, ¾ bound or full bindings dependent on your preference, calculating case sizes and how to block labels with type and gold foil.
Some of you will be happy to learn there will be no sewing in this workshop!!!
The course will run from 9:30-5 with a half hour lunch and a 15 min afternoon tea break, but as ever drinks, biscuits and time-outs will be available throughout :)
Packed lunches should be brought, but if you’d prefer the Co-op is just across the road which also includes a Café.
All tools, equipment and materials are provided, additional materials will be available to purchase if you'd like to try projects at home.
