This edition has a frontispiece from the painting of George Cattermole. The Old Curiosity Shop was first published in book form in 1841.
This copy has recently been repaired having been in a disbound state.
It has a new green leather spine with raised bands and gold lettered spine label.
The original olive green coloured cloth boards with blind embossing have been retained and show some wear commensurate with its age.
Boards have some wear and small losses at corners and board edges (showing joins of new leather/cloth).
The book has been given new endpapers (black), new endbands and ribbon.
Internally the book has heavy foxing to its plates and adjoining pages but the majority of the text pages are clear and bright. Text is in two columns.
The first page in the book (frontispiece) is heavily foxed and also has some losses to the page edge, looking a little bit ragged.
